Submarine cable in Hyefjorden - with grid company Linja
Jan 28, 2025
Strengthening the power grid in Vestland County.
In Hyefjorden, in Vestland county, we installed a 7-kilometre-long 24kV submarine cable on behalf of the grid company Linja. The project is part of a major reinforcement of the power grid in the region, and will help meet the growing demand for electricity from both local and national consumers.
The cable will help to improve power transmission from the power stations in Gloppen, ensuring a stable and efficient energy supply for many years to come.
Acting as a turnkey supplier
In the installation project, Nexans has acted as a turnkey supplier, with responsibility for everything from production at our factory in Rognan, to securing and installing the cable.
‘The advantage of using us as a turnkey supplier is that the road to solving any challenges is shorter. We produce the cable here in Norway and know it best. If we were only responsible for production, we would still have to get involved if something unforeseen were to happen.

Local and global focus
At Nexans, we work daily with assignments like this - both nationally and internationally. And even though we are part of a large international company, it is important to us that we can also contribute to installations along the Norwegian coast.
Our goal is to create durable and long-lasting installations. With our long history and technical expertise, we're ready to deliver solutions that will last for decades.
