The oil and gas industry continues to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and exploit new fields. The world is increasingly relying on offshore resources, and to ensure future supplies it is also moving into deeper waters. 

Nexans contributes to this important sector by delivering fiber optic cables and components for Permanent Resource Monitoring (PRM) seismic systems.  

We work closely together with the system provider. An ocean bottom-laid system includes Nexans array cables, back-bone cables, static and dynamic risers, along with components for fiber optic systems. We hold the world record for fiber optic risers with a delivery of 768 fibers in a static riser to the Ekofisk field. Various subsea fiber cables can be provided with fiber counts up to 2000 and for water depth down to 3000m.
