Norway is going through a historic development of new, renewable power generation. Wind energy is growing quickly, and from 2017 to 2021 new wind power will be completed, with an annual electricity production of approx. 15 TWh, which corresponds to the consumption of approx. 750,000 households.
In recent years, rapid technological development has led to onshore wind energy now being competitive with conventional thermal power generation in most markets. In areas with good wind resources, wind energy is now the new, most affordable way of producing energy.
Due to our very good wind resources, Norwegian wind energy is the most affordable new energy source in Europe, available on a large scale.

Nexans has delivered innovative and smart cable solutions to a major part of the wind farms in Norway. This primarily applies to cable solutions for the transmission of power, both in the wind farm internally and further out in the power grid, as well as cable solutions for the transmission of data communication.
