ALSECURE®

For a number of years, Nexans has been developing and supplying halogen-free, flame retardant power and telecommunications cables in order to ensure the very highest levels of safety. We have been continuously improving our cables’ ability to withstand fire and heat, as well as minimizing the spread and formation of smoke and gases in the event of fire. Our range of ALSECURE® cable products are made from materials and include features that use the very latest cutting edge technology found through fire resistance and fire reaction research.

ALSECURE® cables are halogen-free, smokeless cables that only emit small amounts of corrosive, harmful and irritating gases in the event of fire. They burn without producing large quantities of irritating gases and form little smoke. By using ALSECURE® cables, you reduce the risk of harm to human life, equipment and structures.

Consequential damages
Smoke generated in the event of fire in traditional cabling systems contains large quantities of chlorine (Cl). Chlorine, fluoride, bromine and iodine are halogens that must be avoided.

Chlorine binds with hydrogen in the air to form hydrochloric acid (HCL). Hydrochloric acid is spread via corridors and ventilation systems to the rest of the building. When combined with water, this leads to the formation of large volumes of diluted hydrochloric acid. This hydrochloric acid results in extensive corrosion damage to metallic components found in computer systems, control devices, engines, machines and so on. It can also result in damage to reinforcing irons within the building superstructure.

ALSECURE® PLUS 
- are halogen-free, smokeless cables that are also functionally safe. The conductors feature Mica bands around the copper conductor and insulation which is fire-resistant and prevents short circuits.  
ALSECURE® PLUS will continue to work in extreme conditions. These cables meet the strictest requirements in relation to reactions to fire and resistance to heat.

ALSECURE® PREMIUM 
- are halogen-free, smokeless cables that are also functionally safe. The conductors feature insulation that is self-ceramicizing, thus preventing short circuits. ALSECURE® PREMIUM will continue to work in extreme conditions. These cables meet the strictest requirements in relation to reactions to fire and resistance to heat.

ALSECURE® PLUS/PREMIUM 
- are cables that work much longer than normal cables during a fire. Nexans guarantees that critical systems will continue to operate during evacuation and fire fighting efforts. This applies to typical equipment such as video cameras, emergency lighting, speaker systems, (fire) alarm systems, elevators, smoke fans, water sprinkler systems and other fire fighting equipment.
