Building foundations
Damage to building foundations on account of frost is expensive and difficult to repair.
Heating cables will efficiently prevent damage to building foundations. The heating cables may be either embedded in the foundation concrete, or be attached to the outside of the foundation.
Thermal management system
Heat loss from the building through the floor will often be sufficient to keep the foundations frost-free, and the heating cable works as extra safety. The heating cable should therefore be controlled by a thermostat with a sensor placed in the same depth as the heating cable, but between two cable strands.
Mounting
The heating cables are installed either at the base/bottom of the foundation, or are embedded in the foundation
Products that are ideal for building foundations
TXLP SINGLE CONDUTOR HEATING CABLES
Single conductor heating cable (also called drum cable) is quite suitable for frost protection of building foundations. Normally two strands of cable would be installed (one “loop”), which means that the "end" of the cable should come back to the starting point of the installation. To achieve the desired power, a cable with the correct ohm value must be selected. This requires some calculations and planning of the installation. Single conductor heating cable systems should be calculated by a person possessing experience with such systems.
TQXP/TXLP HEATING CABLE ELEMENTS
Using heating cable elements facilitates an easier installation. Various levels of linear power in the foundation may be achieved by laying cables in loops, or by combining wires with different linear powers (10W/m, 17W/m and 28W/m). Planning and dimensioning should always be performed by qualified personnel.
