Positive approach to the work

This is how Per Øyvind Tveit sees it. The fitter works for Nettpartner AS’s South Norway Department, and has a clearcut opinion of what can make his job easier.

“Nexans’ road-lighting cable, also known as TXXI-RL 1 kV AFR, is in every way quick and easy to install,” he says.

Must be tested
A small test project of 12 poles at Stoa business park in Arendal was all it took for Tveit to give an unambiguous report to project manager Ole Jacob Paulsen.

“If we haven’t any experience of a cable, we have to try it out in practice before we can assess its quality. I quickly discovered that I could do the job in less time with the newly developed TXXI-RL 1 kV road-lighting cable available in 5G25 and 5G50 mm2 AFR from Nexans Norway,” Tveit says.

Since then, he has laid this same cable along many other stretches.

“Unless our customers require us to use a different cable, I swear by Nexans’ road-lighting cable,” says the fitter.

No more dismantling
Road lights and similar installations require durable and reliable solutions. In other words, the installation must be waterproof and it must be able to withstand extreme climatic impacts. 

“Efficient installation is also a prerequisite,” Tveit says. 

He is referring to the fact that Nexans’ double insulated and UV-resistant road-lighting cable does not have a common outer sheath and that it is approved for being laid directly in the ground without additional protection.

“This spares me having to do all the dismantling and attaching phase spreaders to seal the transition,” he says, pointing out that this is very time-consuming process.

Saves time
