Halden - one of the greenest Nexans factories in the world

Background:

Nexans has implemented a separate certification of its factories, EHP (Environment Highly Protected) as an addition to external certifications such as ISO. This is a good tool for us as a global group, and it helps us to continue working to strengthen and challenge our sustainability goals.

What we've done:

In Norway, hydropower is the largest source of electricity, which means that Nexans Halden is powered by renewable energy. We have replaced old impregnation boilers with more efficient and cleaner boilers, installed LED lighting in the factory, expanded the number of waste types for sorting, reduced the number of forklifts to reduce fuel consumption and reduced the use of municipal water in certain production lines.

Result:

In 2019, the Halden plant became the third Nexans plant in the world to meet the requirements for EHP2 certification, which strengthens our efforts to achieve our sustainability goals.
