Low profile solutions
Easy to install, and suitable for both new constructions and renovation projects.
Nexans offers a variety of low-profile heating cable products. Some of these can be mounted directly onto combustible surfaces, such as chipboard flooring, and then be covered by a thin layer of screed, or directly in tile adhesive. Others may be installed directly under parquet or laminate without the use of screed at all. These products are very easy to install and well suited for both new constructions and renovation projects.
In particular, on account of parquet floors sensitivity towards heat, installed power in such floors will be somewhat lower than in concrete floor. Lower power in hardwood floors, however, has no negative impact on comfort feeling. Many have experienced that ceramic tiles feel cold, even though the ambient temperature is at a comfortable level. This is because the tiles have high thermal conductivity and transport heat efficiently away from the feet.
Wooden materials have a thermal conductivity lower than that of ceramic tiles, and the floor surface will feel warm, even with less installed power. Since there is almost no thermal storage in such floors (which is the case in concrete floors), the temperature regulation is also fast and efficient.
Temperature control
For low-profile heating cables, it is ideal to use an electronic, programmable thermostat, which allows for day and night setbacks. The use of a floor sensor in wet rooms is recommended.
Renovation projects
In renovation projects, the available building height is often a limiting factor. It is not desirable having to raise thresholds, adapt doors, or similar expensive and time-consuming jobs.
A floor with retrofitted floor heating is usually very quick and easy to regulate since the heating cables are located in the upper part of the floor construction. This gives great advantages with respect to temperature regulation and minimizing power consumption.
Heating cable or heating mat solution
Installation in a renovation project can be implemented using either traditional heating cable type TXLP, or the thinner mat solution MILLIMAT. Another alternative is the MILLICABLE™ and MILLICLICK™. The latter system (8 mm building height) is intended for parquet or laminate flooring, and there is no need for use of screed.
If available building height permits, there are also traditional heating cables which are suitable for renovation projects.
MILLIMAT® - the thinnest solution for renovation projects
MILLIMAT® is ideal for use in renovation projects due to its slim construction, and it and can be used in all types of room. It is designed for embedding in screed, providing a comfortable, safe and economical heating. MILLIMAT® has a negligible magnetic field and is only 4.5 mm thick. It can easily be adapted to the shape of the room, and can be installed directly in tile adhesive or embedded in self-leveling screed.
MILLIMAT/100 is intended for rooms like kitchen, hallways, living rooms, etc., and may be installed on any surface (including combustible surfaces).
MILLIMAT/150 is suitable for bathrooms, WC or other rooms with higher power requirements, and shall only be installed on non-combustible surfaces.
MILLICABLE™/MILLICLICK™
MILLICABLE™ is a low-profile, twin conductor heating cable, which together with MILLICLICK™ boards comprises a unique heating system. The system is easy and effective to install, with no need for screed.
MILLICLICK™ are light, wood-fiber based boards, with precut grooves adapted to MILLICABLE™ heating cable. The boards are covered with aluminum foil, which ensures even heat distribution. The grooves have a separation of 10 cm, which in combination with MILLICABLE™ gives an area power of 60 W / m². This is in line with most parquet and laminate manufacturers guidelines.
The system has multiple advantages, as both noise reduction, insulation and heating is achieved in the one and same product, with a building height of only 8 mm, and without the use of screed. MILLICLICK™ shall only be used together with MILLICABLE™ heating cable. Rapid and accurate temperature regulation is performed through use of an electronic, programmable thermostat. Regardless of choice of thermostat type, it shall have a temperature limitation function which ensures that the temperature does not exceed that which is approved by the parquet provider, normally 27°C.
When using MILLICABLE™ / MILLICLICK™ from Nexans, power limitations applicable to products installed in direct contact with combustible materials is adhered to.
TQXP/2R 10W/m
TQXP/2R 10W/m is suitable for rooms where the floor can be raised a maximum of 30 mm above the existing floor, and there are requirements for precise installation around corners, drains, toilet bowl, etc.
